Rashid asks, "The day I have been asked to take the oath of naturalization does not work for me because my family had planned a vacation a while ago. Cancelling this trip will not only cause a lot of disturbance to my family's plans, it might add up to several hundred dollars in additional expenses due to cancellation charges on airline tickets. Is it possible for me to go early for an oath?"
The best thing to do is to actually get in touch with the USCIS and tell them your story by also presenting evidence of your travel plans. Generally speaking it is much easier for them to reschedule to a later date because those dates have more slots open, but from time to time, people cancel and slots open up. So if you are lucky, they might be able to squeeze you in.
